Putting First Things First
Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Matthew 5:23-24
Funny when you get ready to settle down and quiet your spirit before God to worship and love on Him, that the thought enters your mind of a problem you have with that special someone in your life that made you so mad you could spit nails.
What's worst is that you remember how you handled the disagreement the wrong way. Even though you try to escape the thoughts that keep coming to your mind of justifying your actions, you realize that you can't go any further until you do the right thing.
Put first things first, and go to that husband/wife, sister/brother, friend, church member, co-worker or neighbor and make right with them. You will hopefully save the relationship and open the channels of communication. Even if they won't receive you, you will free yourself from the bondage bitterness by demonstrating the love of Christ and extending an olive branch to the person. Reconciliation is a gift to yourself as much as it is for the other person. Joy is sweet fruit and you can only attain it through loving others inspite of their deeds. It is not easy loving the unlovable, but if your love can melt their heart, you will be a blessing to both them and yourself. You will be free from any obstacles and obstructions between God and you, because you can worship the Lord being free in the spirit. Taking the first move will break any control the enemy may try to have over you.
Put first things first, forgive and live. Then you can draw close to God without any hinderances. The enemy can't bring any guilt trips against you because you chose to closed the door on the enemy by reconciliation. Close the door to strife and live a life of peace by choosing to make the conscience decision to not allow the tentacles of anger or guilt to control your life. Command your emotions this season and refuse to become a statistic to anger and depression from being distant from God. Draw close to God; He's waiting on you.
