Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him. And show him My salvation. Psalm 91:14-16
His name is Jesus and I really love Him and as the song goes, because He first loved me. Jesus really loves us and the scriptures reveal a beautiful picture of His grace and love toward us. If we could only get the image of His unfailing love for us deep down into our spirit and let it resonate within our heart, we would never walk in defeat or doubt. Our faith will increase as we understand that His love for us is greater than any human love. Our minds can't fathom the love He has for us because, many struggle with agape love now. The message of His undying love and His abounding grace toward us is almost too deep for our minds to imagine or understand.
God promises to answer our call and to deliver us in times of trouble, because we love Him. His Word says, that because we have set our love on Him and we know His name, that He will deliver us, set us on high, answer when we call on Him, honor us, give us long life, satisfy us with good things and show us His salvation...powerful promises!!!
Why do we worry about things? I believe it is because we haven't truly received the understanding, wisdom or knowledge of who He really is and who we are in Him. We are called to express His glory on the earth and to bring light into dark places. We are his royal sons and daughters on the earth. Even when we feel low, He has already set us on high. We are in high places with Him and we will see if we allow Him to open our eyes. We would cease to ever walk in fear or doubt, if we could see the door that He has opened in front of us leading us into the pathways of holiness and light. He has clothed us in His glory and is calling us to walk in His light.
As we watch the people around us stress out over Christmas shopping and gaining material things, we must be mindful not to get caught up in the madness. It is so easy to get caught up in the spending frenzy, because the enemy knows exactly what you like and you will be tempted in a greater way this year than you have even been in your entire life. The battle has been waged against you to distract you into buying things that you don't even need and going into unnecessary debt. Companies spend big money on advertisements to get you to charge your purchases and the product sells are almost too good to resist. There was Black Friday and Cyber Monday to entice you to spend. I must confess, I love designer purses and I have effectively been able to resist going into the purse sections when I have had to go to the Mall. But, I never thought of the number of emails I would receive online. I received emails from different companies selling purses all day yesterday. Every time I got online, there was another or better sell on purses. One company finally got my attention and I almost fell. They were advertising designer purses half off, free shipping and no taxes. This was almost too much for me and I was almost tempted beyond my ability to resist, but God always make a way for us to escape when we are tempted (any and all temptations) and I had to refocus my thoughts, because I didn't need another purse. Purchase what you want, as long as it is not coveting and please don't go into debt.
We are not to follow the ways of the world. If we see them stressed out over material things and depressed, we need to remember to stay clear of the debt drama. Why would this time of year be depressing for the Body of Christ if our thoughts are on Him? We know His name, character and nature. Our faith and hope is in Him, because we are born from above and hidden in Him, who is sitting at the right hand of the Father. Celebrate Jesus, the one who celebrates you!
