I heard a man on the radio this morning say, feed the spirit; starve the flesh, and it made me think about scriptures that encourages us to study God's Word. Study to show thyself approved unto God; walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the desires of the flesh; I have hidden your Word in my heart; Your Word is a lamp unto my feet...
For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction for the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to myths. But you, be sober in all things... 2 Timothy 4:2-5a
We, who are called to be preachers of the Word, have a heavy charge on our lives by the Holy Spirit, to study, believe, meditate, demonstrate and preach the unadulterated and infallible Word of God. We, who preach/teach the word have an awesome responsibility to be carriers of the precious treasure of God's word. The Living Word, Jesus Christ, and the Heavenly hosts, have witnessed the martyrdom of men and women throughout the ages, who kept the integrity of the Word of God, only to witness the irresponsibility of the last day preachers and teachers of the word twist it's meaning to have a "current" word for the people. Many of these people have not studied the word for themselves, but have read other people's articles or heard someone else preach heresy and regurgitated it to others (because it tickled their ear)to appear knowledgable, to receive the accolades of man.
I believe many have failed to realize that Jesus is the living Word and the Bible is the written word.
All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16
Here's the question...if all scripture is inspired by God, under what inspiration is false teaching of the scriptures coming from? The Bible states that false teaching comes from the doctrine of demons. We must be careful not to just read but to study God's word. Study is not reading the Bible only; it means searching out word meanings from a concordance, a Bible dictionary a regular dictionary and sometimes a good commentary. The Hebrew-Greek Bible is a good bible to study to get a clearer understanding of a scripture.
The Word of God brings life to dead situations and light to darkness. The Word is water in dry places and will restore a person who loses their way. Teach and preach the written word (logos) and watch it become the living word (rhema) to satisfy your soul. Those who love the Word understands the beauty of it. It is comforting and passionate, full of wisdom and knowledge. God's Word is poetic and filled with prophetic truths, filled with stories, living history, allegories and symbolism...mountains meaning governments. It hides a thing and turns around and reveal it's meaning. David meditated on the Word during the night watches. Wisdom, knowledge and understanding are found in God's Word. Understanding how to operate in the natural and spiritual is found in it's pages. My spirit thirsts for the Word of God and I am not satisfied until I have drunk from it's pages. The wonders and sovereignty of God, along with His judgments, power, holiness and goodness are found in His precious book. The answers to your life's questions are waiting for you in God's manual for humanity. We have to love God's word to teach it's truths to a dying world.
