A Heart of Gladness

But know that the Lord has set apart the godly man for Himself. The Lord hears when I call to Him, tremble and do not sin; meditate in your heart upon your bed, and be still…Thou has put gladness in my heart, more than when their grain and new wine abound. In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for Thou alone, O Lord, dost make me to dwell in safety. Psalms 4:3-4, 7-8

What a wonderful promise that the Lord has chosen us for Himself. The Creator God of the universe is intimately in love with us and hears us when we call. His ears are listening for our voices, because He loves those who He has set apart for Himself. There is not a word that falls from our mouths, that He does not hear. He has given us provision but more importantly, He has given us joy. Joy is another word for gladness and He has made us glad. A glad heart should be desired more than great possessions, because no matter what is going on with us, we can be content in the love of the Lord.

God has given us a heart filled with joy and peace even when there is turmoil all around us. He has given us His peace, to be able to lie down and sleep; knowing that God’s angels of protection surrounds us in a world that is filled with fear and crime.

We praise you Lord, for covering us with your continuous love. Let us never take the knowledge that you have set us apart for yourself, for granted. You have satisfied us with good things and blessed us beyond our wildest dreams. Thank you for your joy, peace and protection as we think of all of your marvelous favor on our lives. To you God, we give all the praise.
