The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved. Jeremiah 8:20
The prophet Jeremiah spoke of the people of his day, who have continued and simply refused to repent and obey God. Jeremiah cried over those God had called to walk in favor and blessings because of their total disdain for God’s law. As it was for the prophets in the Old Testament, so it is for the prophets of today. We have witnessed shaking after shaking and have refused to correct our walk before God and man.
Those who call themselves prophets and apostles, and walk incorrectly before the Lord of Hosts, have been given a warning in the scriptures.
Therefore behold, “I am against the prophets, declares the Lord, “who steal My words from each other. Behold, I am against the prophets, declares the Lord, who use their tongues to declare, “The Lord declares. Behold, I am against those who have prophesied false dreams, declares the Lord, and related them, and led My people astray by their falsehoods and reckless boasting; yet I did not send them or command them, nor do they furnish this people the slightest benefit, declares the Lord.
Jeremiah 23:30:32
(Read the entire chapter and take heed)
I know your deeds and your toil and perseverance, and that you cannot endure evil men, and you put to the test those who call themselves apostles and they are not, and you found them to be false…Rev. 2:2
God has anointed His prophets to prophesy and He has also called some to operate under the spirit of prophesy. Prophetic people are anointed by God to speak a Word to the Church. The desire to prohesy is a good thing but we must only speak what we hear or has been impressed to speak by the Lord. The office of the Prophet is such a serious office that although many desire to be a prophet, it is not one we need to play with. It is not a self-appointed office but one called by God.
So many people desire to be prophets and love to call themselves, prophets. Some of these people even have a stance of haughtiness to go along with their false office. But the Lord’s rebuke is to those who are prophesying falsely in His name. God is calling for true apostles and prophets to preach and teach the truth to His people. Forget about who may be offended, for your job is to instruct, encourage, correct, rebuke and mature the Body of Christ. Cry out, spare not and show God’s people their sins. That is your duty before God.
The past couple of years have been tough, as we have seen the economy, morals, finances, jobs and churches fail. We are no longer shocked by news of severe weather, the rise in racial prejudice, crime and unruly church leadership. Shocked or not, God is giving us time to get it together. We have been baked and shaked, and yet we still refuse to yield to the Word of the Lord. What will it take for us to surrender and submit ourselves to the Living God?
The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved. It is time for us to take a serious look at ourselves and repent, resist the enemy, draw near to God and evangelize. The harvest is huge but the laborers are sitting on a rock, licking their wounds, waiting for yet another conference to get healed and revived. It is time to get up, grow up, wipe off your knees and go to a dying world and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. How can we dominate when we are still whining about our circumstances? I guess, I am coming off a little hard, but that is the prophet in me. Season after season, from faith to faith, glory to glory, we shout, we decree, we declare and then we leave the pulpit , sweating and tired, thinking we did an awesome job of tearing up the Church with our sermon. But, all we really did was give a good show because the people are still in bondage.
The harvest is past, the summer is ended and we are not saved. It is time that our lives reflect our message. We must be about what we preach about. We must be strong in the Lord Jesus, and know that He is with us in every circumstance. We must walk holy before Him and declare His glory on the earth. We MUST be worshipers in our private lives and lovers of the Word. It is time for the leadership to take a good look at our lives and then, preach holiness in our Churches and ministries. For without holiness, no man shall see God.
