I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago—whether in the body I do not know or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows—such a one was caught up into the third heaven and I know such a man—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God know how he was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which a man is not permitted to speak. 2 Cor 12:2-4
…and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory
1 Peter 1:8
Paul writes of a spiritual encounter in which he was caught up into paradise and heard dialogue which he was not allowed to tell. This event happened to him 14 years earlier but he recounted it in his letters to the Corinthians. No doubt he could not forget this heavenly encounter and wanted to share it with them. The Corinthian were filled with spiritual gifts and had no problem identifying with Paul’s adventure.
Paul writes that he could not tell if he was in the spirit or in the flesh but one thing he knew without a shadow of a doubt is that he was caught up into paradise. He was not ashamed to bring up this magnificent visitation but he did not feel free to express what he heard in that place. Throughout the Bible we read about people who have had phenomenal heavenly visitations and angelic experiences. We read about Moses and Abraham having dialogue with God. The description for the word inexpressible is: indescribable, beyond words, overwhelming, deep, unutterable, unspeakable and impossible to put into words.
Since the Lord is the same yesterday, today and forevermore we can assume that He is moving among His people the same manner today. Jacob saw angels ascending and descending on a latter and wrestled with Him. Elijah and Ezekiel’s experiences were off the chart. Mary, Joseph, Peter and Paul to name a few all stood in that place where they can say that they had an inexpressible experience with God. They could tell it but who would believe it?
God is moving among the remnant today and giving them inexpressible experiences that changes their lives forever. No matter what trials come their way; they can operate in a place of joy because they have seen that which is not of this world. Most people worry about the cares of this world because they haven’t seen that which is spiritual. Their eyes are on the material and not the spiritual.
We are living in a time of unbelief in the Church and many preachers look for gimmicks to keep the people interested in what they are saying. They take the Word out of context and put a different twist to it to mesmerize the people. But those preachers who have had a true encounter with the Lord will minister from the supernatural realm and find no need for gimmicks for they know that God is really real and the spirit world truly exist all around us. The world is looking for spiritual experiences and unfortunately they are looking for them in the wrong places. They are running after other religions and beliefs that contradict the will of the true and living God.
Psychics, paranormal and occult experiences are getting lots of attention because God has put it in man to know that there is more to this life than what they see. He has put a desire into us to seek Him and because He is a Spirit we must seek Him in the spirit. The problem lies in the fact that many in the Church who have had these experiences won’t talk about it for being branded crazy. The rest of the Church is not demonstrating this spiritual gifts or knowledge. Jesus as well as His disciples demonstrated the supernatural. The first Church demonstrated the supernatural so why is the Church so dead today? We are reduced to head knowledge of God and anything that is supernatural is considered demonic. God want our natural to be supernatural.
We can only walk in this unexplainable or inexpressible love if we are in relationship with Jesus. The one thing that is spoken over and over between believers is the revelation of our love relationship with the Lord. This relationship produces joy that we simply can’t explain. No matter what is going on in our lives we still walk in joy. Man didn’t give us this joy that we can’t explain and man can’t take it away. The carnal man can’t understand those who walk in joy when things are difficult in one’s life. But this joy comes from the depth of our very beings directly from the Holy Spirit and the spiritual realm.
