You dear, children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.
1 John 4:4-6
One of the most frustrating times in the life of a minister, is talking to people you love who have no idea what you are talking about. They may know enough scripture to be dangerous, but not enough to be changed. Some have preconceived ideas about religion, but have no idea what it means to be a spiritual Christian. Some will even argue doctrines they have heard in Church as a child, but clueless where to find the scriptures to support their beliefs in the Bible.
You know in your heart that it is useless to argue with these folks, and you are also aware that mature Christians have been admonished by the Apostle Paul, to not argue the scriptures. It’s like beating a dead horse to argue the scriptures with someone who is determined to hold onto erroneous, personal, doctrinal beliefs.
Here’s the truth; these folks can’t grab what you are saying because they are not from God; you are. They operate from the world's standard and will speak from the spirit of fear and doubt. When our love ones are in the world, we have to be careful what we reveal to them, because although they may love you and be well meaning, they march to the beat of a different drummer than you. You march from the sound of Heaven and they march from the dictates and beliefs of the world. If we reveal our problems to them we will soon regret it, for they can’t understand the faith that you walk in. If you are experiencing sickness and believing God for healing, these folks are quick to tell you about someone else they knew with the same problem and died from it. If you are expecting God to bless your finances, those who don’t walk in faith, will tell you how you will probably lose your job, house, family and mind. There is no faith talk in their speech.
Don’t cast your pearls before swine. These people don’t know your God and have no idea what you are talking about. Your vast knowledge of God or doctrine will not win them over; your love will. Love them unconditionally, for what will convince them of Christ's love, is your demonstration of His love to them. Jesus is not coming back to hug them; He is using you to do so. Handle them with care and love them until they can trust you; Jesus loved you to the cross.
