The Revelations of God pt 1

I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward you who believe, according to the working of His mighty power. Ephesians 1:17-19

I chuckle to myself whenever I ask someone about their relationship with God and they tell me that they know God because, they go to a certain church, is part of a certain denomination or a certain person is their pastor. It could be that they don't fully understand what I am asking them or they simply don't know God personally and can't answer the question. They believe in God and profess Him, but they don't always know him.

The precious Holy Spirit used the Apostle Paul to write a letter to the Ephesian Church that would give them hope, even as it impacts our lives today, that we would all come to know God personally as we obtain knowledge of Him through the means of the Spirit of wisdom and revelation. It is not the wisdom that the world has, but the wisdom that comes from the Spirit of God. The wisdom that Paul is writing about is not carnal knowledge, common sense or worldly wisdom, but wisdom that comes from the Spirit of God.

The Greek meaning of revelation is apokalupsis, which means revelation, to reveal, to uncover, to make fully known, disclosure. God want to reveal or to make Himself fully known to us. He want us to come to know His nature, character and His ways. He want us to know His deep love for us and He reveals or uncover more of Himself to us as we continue to seek His face. Moses asked God to show His glory and God revealed Himself to him.

God desires to manifest hidden truths to us that we did not know. These are not "new" truth, but truth of His nature and power that has been hidden from us, because these things can only be understood through the Holy Spirit. God want to reveal more of His nature, His word, His heart and mind to us. He will speak truth to us that we could not know apart from Him.

There is a scripture that states, "always learning, but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." We can learn facts, doctrines and scriptures, but we will not have true knowledge until we come to know God. We can preach a church down and tear it up with great preaching skills and still miss the mark, if we don't know the God behind the words we preach. We preach Jesus and we should know Jesus. The Word says, that others will know us (those who know Him) by our fruit. This is an exceptional year for spiritual growth and maturity that God has ordained for us, that we may know Him in a greater dimension.
