A WORD TO PROPHETS

A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.” So Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you?”
2 Kings 4:1-2a
There is a statement which says, “Membership has its benefits.” This statement and principle has helped many people, their relatives and friends walk through the doors of opportunity. We see this open door principle in politics, education, business, the Church and even in friendship. We even see this principle in regards to Jesus. On the Cross, Jesus looked out at the crowd and then to his mother and John. Although Jesus had natural brothers and sisters, he charged his beloved disciple John with the responsibility to care for his mother as if she were his natural mother.
The woman in need of a miracle was the wife of a prophet and understood who she was and the legal rights she had because of her husband’s love and respect for the Lord. Elisha took notice of this woman because her husband was with the company of prophets and had obviously been a student of his, for she called him a servant of Elisha. We see this same thing with Jesus. In the midst of His dying He knew his mother needed someone to look after her and gave John the charge to care for this wonderful, spirit filled woman and mother of Jesus.

Interestingly enough, the deceased prophet’s wife was in dire need of a move of God in her life. She needed the prophet to do something to stop the creditors from taking her sons and making them slaves. She did not have the finances to pay the creditors so instead of money they wanted her sons as slaves. She needed a miracle quick and fast. Elisha filled with the Spirit of God and wisdom knew this was the opportune time to show this woman a miracle and he did.

Where is this unity of the prophets today? Are we ready to assist the family of prophets or do we turn our heads the other way. There should be great respect and camaraderie among the prophets and apostles in the Church. Recently, one of my daughters ran into a problem and God sent a prophetess to assist her. Unbeknownst to the prophetess, whose intentions were to give my daughter a package; she was not aware that God was sending her on an assignment. When she showed up on the scene, she witnessed an assault on my daughter. God had sent her at the right time and she was able to call and flag down a police officer. But the most important thing was that this prophetess is a serious prayer warrior and a close friend of mine. I believe her very presence stopped the hand of Satan from destroying my daughter. Just as Elisha showed up on the scene for the wife of this deceased prophet, God had my friend show up on the scene of this crime. Satan’s hands were bound and God was glorified in this situation. What Satan meant for evil, God meant for good for this daughter has returned to the Lord in a mighty way. Praise God for taking care of our family members. Trust God to take care of your family members. God have us on assignment to assist in any and every way we will ever need. Trust Him saints, He is our deliverer. To God alone, I give all the glory.

note: Prophetess Ruth Washington, I love you and I thank you from the depths of my heart.
