Moses saw that the people were running wild and that Aaron had let them get out of control and so became a laughing stock to their enemies. So he stood at the entrance to the camp and said, "Whoever is for the Lord, come to me." And all the Levites rallied to him.
Exodus 32:25-26
Aaron was put over the children of Israel to lead them while Moses was up on the mountain in the presence of the Lord. Moses was with God longer than Aaron or the people expected and cried out to Aaron to make an idol. He listened to their cry to make them an idol that they could worship. Aaron had the people bring their gold jewelry and he put the gold in the fire and made a calf. This story reminds me of the quote, "when the cat's away, the mice will play." Somehow, thousands of people came together to seek another god instead of the true God. They had witnessed the power of God and saw Moses perform miracle after miracle, yet they somehow managed to forget God and sought after that which was made by their own hands.
The Church is doing the same thing today. We are running after anything and everything that will satisfy our flesh. We are looking for money, relationships, houses and fame to satisfy that deep desire that is within us to be happy. We are looking for God in all the wrong places. Many are suffering from depression after the financial balloon busted and are now wondering if all they were taught by spiritual leaders was a big lie. Many a leader taught their people that if they can believe it, they can receive it, without any responsibility to live a godly lifestyle. This principle was taught by irresponsible leaders who just said, "name it and claim it." Greed and coveting came into play and people named what they wanted and then went on a spending spree leading them to financial ruin with homes, cars and material things they have and are fast losing. Instead of living within their means, they bought more house than they could afford, spiffy cars they could not afford and took their credit cards to the limit; while thinking that they were living in the blessed realm. They thought that God had blessed them and that they deserved to live like a king.
A few prophets cried out that this lifestyle would not last and that the people of God should return to Him. These godly men and women were ostracized for telling the truth. The prophets who cried out the the people to seek God and to not put their trust in riches were ridiculed. But who's laughing now? The enemy of our God is laughing for he think he has defeated many of God's people. But the true prophets are calling out again to the body of Christ to seek the Lord with all our hearts. Trust me, the other shoe is going to drop, and we will see another wave of problems that will shake us to our very core.
Moses said, "whoever is for the Lord, come now." The Levites were the ones who ran to Moses. The Levites were the priests of the nation of Israel. These were the ones who had been consecrated by God to lead the nation spiritually. But they were also among the people who sinned against God and went into idolatry. When Moses called, the priests came running and professed that they were for the Lord.
These words were in my spirit all day yesterday, "I'm running, I'm running, I'm running to the mercy seat; where Jesus is waiting... I kept wondering why I was hearing those lyrics. The tune was to the song Johnny Cash and Vickie Yohe sung, " Mercy Seat" but the words were slightly different. I asked the Lord, "why am I hearing this song over and over again?" Then He put these words into my spirit today, "Who is on the Lord's side?" I then understood what the Lord was saying to me. He is calling the Levites, the Priest, the Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers to come running to the mercy seat.
God is calling us to run fast after His heart. He is calling for us to draw close to Him and to get our acts together. We cannot lead effectively if we are caught up in the same sins as the people who follow us or worst; the world.
Prophetic Call To Leaders:
Run ministers, run to the mercy seat of God. Some of us think because no one knows our mess that we don't have any mess. But God is calling us to be real and just run to Him for He will cover us and bless us. Run...run...run...after Jesus! Run to the mercy seat for our King is waiting...the call has gone out; who is on the Lord's side, let him come!
